Twitter moved to flag a tweet from President Donald Trump as containing "manipulated media" on Thursday night, when Donald Trump tweeted a video in propaganda-style using the CNN chyron reading, "terrified Toddler runs from a racist baby."
The original video shows two babies running towards each other and sharing personal space with warmth and love. Donald Trump had his base edit the original clip to include the CNN chyron and to manipulate the video into a sick, twisted narrative in an attempt to gaslight the nation. Trump added "America is not the problem, fake news is."
“This tweet has been labeled per our synthetic and manipulated media policy to give people more context,” a Twitter spokesperson told The Hill on thursday night.
This marks the third time Donald Trump had been checked by twitter. The first offense happened when Twitter fact-checked the President's tweet on mail-in-ballots in a misinformation campaign attempt by Donald. The second flagged happen not too long after Trump tweeted "when the looting starts, the shooting starts."; with that being his official response to the George Floyd demonstrations. Twitter flagged the tweet as promoting violence
In an attempt to catch the political fallout. Trump pushed back against the flags from Twitter; An Executive order was signed shortly after to remove some legal protection from the social media giant.
However, Mark Zuckerberg feels strongly about opposing political figures and believes social media shouldn't be arbiters of the truth.
